I'm Ted, the one behind the camera

I'm based in Samui, Thailand, yet also available for work all over the world.

I am a Canadian born destination wedding and elopement photographer based in Koh Samui, Thailand. Growing up in Western Canada, the Rockies, prairies, and suburban streets were my playground. I remember using the loading dock behind the Dairy Queen as a make-shift bike ramp with friends, jumping into glacier fed lakes causing my teeth to chatter so much afterwards that I’m surprised I still have teeth, and driving to Kelowna listening to CCR’s greatest hits album. There was camping, rafting, and swimming in what I thought were huge rivers and lakes.

These adventures didn’t stop when I graduated from school, the field got broader. I have spent the last 20 plus years travelling the globe and photographing the people and places I have encountered. I have danced in kitchens in Prague, climbed the heights of the mountains in Korea, celebrated Holi in Addis Ababa, been to bathhouses in Budapest, cultural celebrations in Ethiopia, and Irish pubs in Italy. It has been quite a life! Along the way, I have learned some important truths.

We are all three dimensional! No one is always one and only one thing. Sometimes we’re silly…sometimes super serious…sometimes mischievous…sometimes extraordinarily happy…and yes, sometimes we’re sad. There are people who only want to photograph and keep the “beautiful moments,” perfectly posed and manicured. Despite how important such photographs are, I don’t think that we should limit ourselves to just those. After all, our playlists span different genres because one style and expression of music cannot encapsulate who we are as people. This is why I feel that the whole range of emotions and experiences should be photographed.

My Approach

My work is an attempt to capture the beauty of people in the moment. To show the facets of our souls as they express themselves through our actions and interactions. To find the beauty in the silly, the exciting, the dramatic, and the emotional.
